Baggage: Lars Saabye Christensen and Nicolaus Widerberg

Wed 1st Oct - Fri 28th Nov 2008

“Baggage” is the title of a set of twelve lithographs by Nicolaus Widerberg which illustrate twelve poems by Lars Saabye Christensen, two of Norway’s most important artists.

Lars Saabye Christensen is one of Norway’s most acclaimed novelists, a writer of short stories and poetry and winner of the Nordic Prize for Literature, Scandinavia’s top literary prize.

One of the most talented sculptors of his generation working in Norway today, Nicolaus Widerberg, born Oslo 1960, is also a painter and printmaker of international distinction, whose work is represented in many public and private collections.

The lithographs were printed at Grafisk Steintrykk, Oslo, in June 2008 then proofed and editioned at Nicolaus's studio in Oslo. Each lithograph measures 29 x 42cm, and is signed and numbered by the artists. The set is published as a limited edition of 150 and is presented in a handmade, leather bound case, designed by the artists and made in Oslo by master book binders Julius & Ørenberg. Each case is numbered.

The price for the cased set of 24 lithographs is £4,400 + 5% Import VAT.

The framed lithographs in the exhibition are the only prints from the Baggage series that are for sale as individual prints, priced at £670 + 5% Import VAT.

Exhibition displayed: Gallery Level / Balcony North

Nicolaus Widerberg is represented by Kings Place Gallery, London, where a collection of his sculpture is currently on exhibition until 28 November 2008.
