Graham Ross

Graham Ross is Director of Music and Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge. He is Principal Conductor/co-founder of The Dmitri Ensemble, with whom he has explored many rarely performed and newly-composed works, and recorded works by James MacMillan (Naxos), Vaughan Williams (Albion Records), Judith Bingham (Naxos) and Giles Swayne (Naxos). He guest conducts ensembles and orchestras across the UK and beyond, and is increasingly involved in the field of opera, having conducted in Jerusalem, Aldeburgh, Provence, Glyndebourne and beyond. He holds a special relationship with Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Denmark, where he has appeared many times as guest conductor.

As a composer, recent performances have been given by, amongst others, Aurora Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, National Youth Choir of Great Britain, O Duo, and the Solstice Quartet, at the Edington, Musique-Cordiale, Three Choirs and London Contemporary Church Music Festivals.

In 2010 he made his débuts at Glyndebourne as Assistant Conductor on Julian Philips' new opera Knight Crew, and at the BBC Proms as Assistant Conductor for the Aurora Orchestra. He conducted Mozart's Così fan tutte with Vignette Productions in Provence and London, and had works performed in LSO St Luke's, Westminster Abbey, and Sydney Opera House. Forthcoming engagements for 2011/12 include performances with the Choir of Clare College in Paris, St Paul's Cathedral, London's Spitalfields Festival and Fenstanton's new music and arts Festival, Fringe in the Fen. Forthcoming conducting engagements include Haydn, East Anglia, Covent Garden and Kensington Chamber Orchestras, a return to Aalborg Symfoniorkester to conduct Bach's St John Passion, composition projects at the Royal College of Music, with commissions and performances for the 50th Farnham Festival, Australian Chamber Orchestra and performances by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
