The Guardian's Angels Sing Christmas

Date: Monday 21 December
Time: 19:30
Venue: Hall One
Price: £9.50

Tonights concert is performed in aid of the New Horizon Youth Centre, which helps young people to gain skills and knowledge to improve their life chances and to help them move from adolescence into adulthood. They work with some very disadvantaged young people, many of whom have poor self esteem, low confidence, a history of rejection, harm and abuse and often profoundly negative experiences of organisations, structures and the helping professions generally.

The programme will comprise traditional Christmas music including carols, with some audience participation. Classics include The Christmas Song, Twelve Days of Christmas, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Gaudete.

The Guardian's Angels was formed in 2002 with the aim of bringing music into the workplace. Our original membership was made up of staff from Guardian News & Media, but since moving into our new offices in Kings Place, we also have members of office staff from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the London Sinfonietta, who are our fellow King's Place tenants. We are all amateur musicians who love singing and we perform regularly throughout the year in support of local charities in the King's Cross area. Past performances have included the world premier of Phil Cashian's Opening of the House with the London Sinfonietta, performed as part of the Kings Place opening festival in 2008.

Our Musical Director is James Davey, who is also MD of Chantage (BBC Choir of the year 2006)
