Classical Opera Company: Classical Love Songs - Beethoven's Kiss

Date: Saturday 5 September
Time: 16:45
Venue: Hall One
Price: £4.50

On the afternoon of 5 September the Classical Opera Company presents three 45-minute recitals devoted to the songs of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, devised by artistic director Ian Page. Three outstanding young singers are joined by acclaimed fortepianist Gary Cooper in a rare opportunity to hear this delightful repertoire accompanied on the instrument for which it was originally written.

The Classical Opera Company's programme of Beethoven love songs begins with the exquisitely lyrical Adelaide, and also includes his La Tiranna, his only original setting of English, and the mischievously witty Der Kuss. A love of a different kind is expressed in the little known Elegy on the Death of a Poodle, and the recital concludes with a performance of the first ever song cycle, the great An die ferne Geliebte.
