Téa Hodžić's startling and evocative voice has enchanted audiences from Womad to the South Bank to Sarajevo. Téa explores the songs of her homeland, the former Yugoslavia, and its bordering countries.
The Téa Hodžić Trio includes long-time collaborators: Oliver Wilson-Dickson on violin (Szapora, Mabon, The Ian McMillan Orchestra, The Devil's Violin) and Luke Carver Goss on accordion (also of Szapora & The Ian McMillan Orchestra).
Téa Hodžić, "the Balkan Bonnie Raitt", moved to the UK in 1989 from Sarajevo, where she trained in classical guitar and opera. As a respected singer and musician she appeared regularly on National TV, Radio and in numerous projects with the National Theatre in Sarajevo. In 1987 she appeared as one of the lead performers at the prestigious Yu-Fest, the international performing arts festival in former Yugoslavia. Along with her sister Mirella, she has collaborated with leading rock and folk musicians such as Goran Bregović. As a result of their contribution to musical culture Téa and her sister Mirella sang for President Tito.
Once in the UK Téa has been involved in creating and performing music for When Lightening Breaks at London's Southwark Playhouse. She also ran a series of compositional and performance workshops for the acclaimed Bath Mozartfest's Community Opera The Mozart Bug and most recently a workshop for BBC3 World on Your Street with Eliza Carthy. Téa joined Balkan Super Group Szapora, touring the UK and Europe. The Téa Hodžić Trio is her most recent project.
"Her voice haunted me for the rest of the day." Clive Davies, The Times
