Part of The Base Series at Kings Place
Fernanda Takai is the singer, instrumentalist and composer of Brazilian group Pato Fu, which in 2001 was considered the best Brazilian band and appeared also in the list of the 10 Best Non-American rock bands in the world by Time Magazine.
In December 2007, under the artistic direction of Nelson Motta and musical direction of John Ulhoa, Fernanda Takai released her first solo album, Onde brilhem os olhos seus, which introduced surprising and renovating interpretations of songs that made up part of the repertoire of the greatly missed bossa nova singer Nara Leão. The CD won several awards and was released internationally, including in Japan and China.
In 2009, Fernanda Takai released the CD/DVD Luz Negra, a live recording of her Onde brilhem os olhos seus tour, including not only the MPB classics of Nara Leão but also covers of There Must Be An Angel (Eurythmics), Ordinary World (Duran Duran), O Ritmo da Chuva (Demetrius) and Ben (Michael Jackson), among others.
