A unique east-west musical evening bringing together distinguished Soprano, Patricia Rozario, khayal diva Veena Sahasrabuddhe, and an eminent line-up of instrumentalists from two genres.

Tonight's premiere performance is composed by Param Vir, a reputed composer with a background in Indian and Western classical music. Encounter is a fluid, melismatic raga-based performance rich in counterpoint and texture, with a contemporary edge.

Born in Bombay, Patricia Rozario studied at the Guildhall School of Music with Walther Gruner and Jeffrey Talbot, winning the Gold Medal and the Maggie Teyte Prize. Several leading composers have written for her, most notably Arvo Pärt and Sir John Tavener.

Veena Sahasrabuddhe is a leading vocalist and composer of Hindustani classical music. Winner of several prestigious awards, her style is rooted in the Gwalior gharana or school of music, but also borrows from Jaipur and Kirana gharanas.

Paul Silverthorne is one of the UK's foremost viola players. He holds the principal positions in both the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta and appears regularly as a soloist with these and other major orchestras around the world. He has worked closely with some of the leading composers of our time

Rohan de Saram has performed with the major orchestras of Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and the former Soviet Union with conductors such as John Barbirolli, Adrian Boult, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa and William Steinberg, as well as with composers conducting their own works such as Luciano Berio.
