Cedomir Vasic

Born in Belgrade in 1948, Čedomir (Čeda) Vasić obtained his BFA in 1971 and MFA in 1973 with Prof Djordje Bošan at the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He was awarded Fulbright Grant at the University of California, Santa Barbara & Los Angeles for the academic year of 1975/76 where he studied video with Prof Mitsuru Kataoka and computer art with Prof John Whitney.

Vasić is a practicing artist, working in fields of painting, graphic art, video and media arts. He has exhibited extensively in Serbia and abroad since 1969. In 1976, he started using video as an art medium (tape, installation, environment). In 1983, he initiated mural painting in Belgrade and has since then accomplished a number of works for public spaces.

Vasić has been writing on visual arts since 1973. He started teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1975, now as Professor of Painting and Drawing. He has been teaching visual culture at the Faculty of Drama since 1984, and polymedia art at the interdisciplinary studies at the University of Arts since 2001. He became a member of the Association of the Serbian Artists in 1972.
