Christian Immler

Christian Immler trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Rudolf Piernay, won the International Nadia et Lili Boulanger Competition in Paris in 2001 and has since worked as a soloist with major orchestras and conductors all over the world.

Recent concert highlights have included Bach B Minor Mass with Marc Minkowski, St. John Passion for Collegium Vocale Gent, conducted by Philippe Herreweghe, Pharnaces in Der König Kandaules by Zemlinsky at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Weill's Berliner Requiem at the Lucerne Festival, Mahler Songs with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, Telemann cantatas with Andrew Parrott, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle during the Vancouver Festival, Haydn's The Seasons with the Orchestre de Picardie, Bach's St. Matthew Passion and the Fauré Requiem with the Gulbenkian Orchestra together with Michel Corboz.

Recent operatic projects have included a production of Poppea by Monteverdi at the 2009 Boston Early Music Festival, Förster Das Schlaue Füchslein by Janáček for the Vienna Kammeroper, Ubalde Armide by Gluck at New Israeli Opera, Claudio Béatrice et Bénédict Berlioz at Opéra Comique in Paris and David & Jonathas Charpentier for Les Arts Florissants conducted by William Christie.

Christian is an experienced recitalist and made his debut at the Wigmore Hall and the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Frick Collection in New York and the Salon d'Honneur in Paris. His recordings include Bach's B Minor Mass for Naïve, cantatas by Stölzel for CPO, Continental Britons and Kaddish on Nimbus and Albeniz' Henry Clifford for Decca, all released to wide critical acclaim.

Future plans include Krenek's Orpheus at the Konzerthaus Berlin with Lothar Zagrosek and Bach St. John Passion with Marc Minkowski. Christian currently holds a professorship at the Conservatoire de Lausanne/Fribourg in Switzerland.
