Matthieu Lejeune

Matthieu Lejeune, cello

Winner of many international competitions, Matthieu Lejeune regularly performs as a soloist with the Duo Le Cann-Lejeune and the Trio Una Corda, as well as with prestigious ensembles (Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Multilatérale, Galliano Septet. He plays in the United States, Italy, Portugal, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa.

Being passionate about the cross over between the Arts, he has produced several shows mixing dance, theatre and music whilst sharing the platform with the likes of Alexandre Brussilovsky, Sonia Wieder-Atherton, Eric-Maria Couturier, François Salque, Arkady Yanivker, Alain Brunier and Alexandre Tharaud. His discography includes several recordings for Maguelone and Triton.

Whilst being a former pupil of Roland Pidoux at the Paris Conservatoire, he received Firsts for cello and Chamber Music before then starting a postgraduate cycle in both these disciplines. Winner of the Fondation Sasakawa, he studied for two years with Frans Helmerson in Cologne, and received the Konzertexam award. He also studied with other musical personalities such as Lynn Harrell (Verbier Festival & Academy), Bernard Greenhouse, Daria Hovora, Maurice Bourgue, Alain Meunier, Jorge Chaminé, Arto Noras, André Gorog.
