Brahms Unwrapped

The next instalment of the Kings Place Unwrapped series focuses on that giant of classical music, Johannes Brahms. Holding the rigours of Classical structure and the unbridled passion and imagination of the Romantic era in perfect balance, Brahms is a pivotal figure in Western music.

But this is so much more than a concert series: there’s an opportunity for our audience to come and sing the Brahms Requiem, a children’s concert, piano recitals by Jeffrey Siegel and Kenneth Hamilton which offer a spoken insight into the works being performed, and an enriching Study Day series which debates Brahms’s life, his inspirations, composing techniques, the evolving performance history of his music and even its use by the Third Reich.
