Saxophonist, composer, master of free style rapping, activist and collaborator with Goldie, Jonzi D and Ms Dynamite, Soweto Kinch brings his own take on urban culture to ‘The Time and the Placeʼ, following the release of a brand-new CD The Legend of Mike Smith – "a real tour deforce" said The Guardian.

Perhaps the only artist in either jazz or hip hop to hold an Oxford degree in modern history, Soweto will bring a distinctive insight to themes being explored during this series, combining his skills as MC and spoken word artist with headlong saxophone improv, steeped in the jazz traditions.

Soweto’s special guest is the wildly inventive Swiss singer, Andreas Schaerer whose vocal gymnastics and dynamic stage presence made a big impact at the 2012 London Jazz Festival with his band Hildegard Learns to Fly.
