London Piano Festival 2017

‘This piano day was altogether exemplary.’ The Sunday Times on London Piano Festival 2016

‘Welcome to the second London Piano Festival! Our inaugural festival in October 2016 was filled with a wide range of pianistic personalities, an abundance of inspiring repertoire and wonderfully committed audiences. This year’s concerts promise to build upon the excitement of the previous festival with many more superb artists, all of whom will perform music with which they feel a special affinity.

An underlying Russian theme with works by Rachmaninov, Borodin, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky will feature in many of the programmes. Our brand-new commission for this year’s Two-Piano Marathon is written especially for the LPF by captivating Russian composer Elena Langer. A sequence of solo recitals will run throughout with concerts by the outstanding Argentinian virtuoso Nelson Goerner, the highly individual Lisa Smirnova and former winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, Ilya Itin. The much-loved Melvyn Tan will include a world premiere by Kevin Volans in his recital. A family concert narrated by Simon Callow followed by jazz from piano legend Jason Rebello will bring the long weekend to a close.

We look forward to October and a thrilling, unmissable series of piano concerts!’
