Cello Unwrapped

Travel to Kings Place

Turning Points

Kings Place Artistic Associates, the London Sinfonietta and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, continue their series of concerts which explore game-changing masterworks in music history in novel ways. Creating a different kind of relationship between orchestra, music and audience, the focus is on audience members themselves, so you can explore both the music and your own reactions to it before the concert and on the night.

‘We have been very excited by our Turning Points projects so far, and look forward to the ones coming this season. Audiences have really enjoyed the alternative experience and ways of learning more about the composers and the music. We tell the story of our own turning point this year as the London Sinfonietta turns 50 in 2018, and also explore the music of one of the greatest composers of the post-war period; Luciano Berio, with whom we collaborated many times. We also explore the extraordinary revolutions in thinking in both music and physics at the start of the 20th Century in a collaboration with Kings Place’s Time Unwrapped series.’
– Andrew Burke, London Sinfonietta

‘From the moment someone buys a ticket, the relationship begins. We’ll create a shared community between us and the audience members. There’ll be playlists, interviews, study afternoons and pop-up performances that relate to the concert programme. Then on the night, you’ll be able to ask the players questions and be engaged in a conversation about the music and how we play it.’
– Crispin Woodhead, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
