Kings Place Music Foundation are proud to introduce the Community Club, our new initiative partnering with organisations to ensure that everyone has access to live music in their local community.
Building on the success of our concession tickets scheme, this year we want to reach even more people by offering up to 500 free concert tickets to youth programmes, families in need, older people and more, who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.
“Through our work with refugee and asylum-seeking artists and families, we’ve witnessed how access to cultural events strengthens confidence and promotes community ties. The partnership with the Community Club ensures that barriers such as cost or accessibility do not stand in the way of participation, which is an incredible gift to those who need it most.” – WE RESTART, Community Club Member

Despite the incredible changes seen around King’s Cross in recent years, our local area remains deeply affected by poverty: much of it is classified among the 20% most deprived areas of the country (OCSI Report 2022). 26% of households in Camden earn less than £30k annually (State of the Borough Report 2024) and, as well as income deprivation, Islington’s older people reported social isolation as a persistent challenge (Fairer Together). Paired with a lack of knowledge of what’s available, our most vulnerable Islington and Camden residents are too often excluded from enjoying the cultural activities happening on their doorstep.
Studies show that engagement with the arts can improve social cohesion and reduce social inequalities (UCL and WHO). This why initiatives like our Community Club are vital, helping us engage with groups working across both boroughs to identify and bring together people who may not otherwise have the chance to participate in our work.
Giving away free tickets is part of a wider plan for the Community Club and with your support, we can offer even more engagement opportunities for groups across Islington and Camden in the next few years.
But we can’t do this alone. We need your support!
We need to raise £20,000 by January to get the scheme off the ground. Donations received will support the giveaway of up to 500 tickets and also help our team to plan more opportunities in the future for our Community Club Members. Can you help?
From November 2024, we will launch the Community Club for local groups across Islington and Camden.
Designed to break down financial barriers and create more opportunities to participate in our work, the Community Club brings together our ambitions to work more actively with our local leaders and reach underserved people.
Building on our offer of free space in our venue to give away up to 500 free tickets to our concerts and more, our goals for the Community Club are simple:
Our Community Club Partners so far include We Restart, Highgate Black Women’s Health, Somers Town Community Association, British Library, Central YMCA, Global Generation, Clarios Housing and Latin America House. We can’t wait to welcome Members over the coming months.
