Contemporary at Kings Place

Contemporary at Kings Place covers a broad spectrum featuring a mix of concerts showcasing artists and repertoire from across contemporary classical, avant-garde, experimental, electronic, electro-acoustic and audio visual styles. In 2015, the programme is particularly focused on Minimalism Unwrapped. Some recent programme highlights include The Labèque Sisters performing Glass, Moondog and UBUNOIR, a Wayne McGregor curation with a score by Leafcutter John & Max Baillie, projects with Cryptic and The Wire, as well as performances from The Smith Quartet, The Duke Quartet, Herman Kolgen (Alpha-Ville), Pekka Kuusisto, Scanner, Francesco Tristano, Murcof, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Lore Lixenberg, Manu Delago, Jamie Bissmire and Leon Michener, Gabriel Prokofiev and Nonclassical, John Metcalfe, Oliver Coates, Juice Vocal Ensemble, CHROMA ensemble, Mikhail Karikis and Bruce Brubaker.

A plane landing in a raging snowstorm in New York 1964 inspired Federico Fellini to write a new script, but the film project was abandoned and Fellini died soon after. Nicolas Altstaedt has approached the artist and composer Hauschka in order to pursue, musically, the footsteps of Fellini.
