Jazz at Kings Place

Jazz at Kings Place encompasses a varied programme of jazz styles, from traditional big band and swing to free improvisation. With 30 plus concerts each year, the programme features established and new talent, showcasing and supporting artists based in the UK and beyond. Over the years, Kings Place has fostered a relationship with BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Line-Up. Programme highlights have included Django Bates, Courtney Pine, Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Westbrook, Jacqui Dankworth, Evan Parker, Julian Joseph, Lisa Simone, Matthew Halsall, Gwilym Simcock, Sidsel Endresen, Soweto Kinch, Shabaka Hutchings, Phronesis, Trish Clowes, Roller Trio, Nikki Isles and the Kairos Quartet.

Gareth Lockrane Big Band: ‘Fistfight at the Barndance’ Album Launch

The Gareth Lockrane Big Band was formed in 2008 and is a fruition of all his musical interests – performing all his original material and combining his cinematic influences of greats such as Lalo Schifrin and Bernard Herrmann with the soul jazz and unrestrained improvisatory nature of his Grooveyard group and the intricate through-composed nature of his septet writing.

Entropi – ‘Moment Frozen’ Album Launch

Entropi explores a narrative of life-pondering, space-gazing and risk-taking through Dee Byrne’s compositions. Zhenya Strigalev’s Stan-Dun-Dun + Ivo Neame Duo

Stan-Dun-Dun is a new international project led by Zhenya Strigalev, the alto sax phenomenon from London via New York via St Petersburg. The group includes Mauritian bass guitar sensation Linley Marthe and Belgian drum virtuoso Stéphane Galland.
