Alexandre Tharaud is a key exponent of French pianism and a unique figure in the classical music world. Here he makes his debut at Kings Place with a poetic sequence of Rameau, Ravel and Grieg.

French pianist Alexandre Tharaud is a highly sought-after soloist and collaborator, known for his eloquence, playfulness and sophistication. Over the course of his career he has made critically-acclaimed recordings of Rameau, Scarlatti, Bach, Chopin and, notably, Ravel’s complete piano works. In this programme he balances Rameau’s delightful Suite in F, with Ravel’s masterly Miroirs (Reflections) musical portraits of his fellow artists in ‘Les Apaches’ group, which includes the simmering ‘Alborado del gracioso’ and transcendent ‘La vallée des cloches’.

Tharaud also reveals his own creative gifts in this special evening with the UK premiere of his own dazzling work, Corpus volubilis.
