M.Art and Eat Your Own Ears present: Kate NV + Lisokot as part of the second season of Luminate.

Kate NV is a solo project of Kate Shilonosova, Moscow-based producer, songstress, composer, designer, co-author and front girl of moscow new wave post punk band “ГШ”. RBMA 2014 and Onebeat 2015 alumni, Moscow Scratch Orchestra member.

Her solo project, NV, mines the far corners of Japanese new wave, bubble gum, and blissed out electronica to form master-crafted experimental pop gems.

Kate NV draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, from Japanese pop from 80’s to concrete music and contemporary classic. Through her free-form compositional skills, the listener can see the multi layered and eclectic soundscapes.

Kate NV paints a sonic sound arrangement with every track she lays down. Her album Binasu (Orange Milk Records/ MIND records/2016, PLANCHA) is a revelatory reflection of her perception of the world and her inner state of mind. Her last album was released in June 2018 on NYC based record label RVNG intl.

Lisokot aka Varya Pavlova is a Moscow-based singer, artist, composer and poet. In her improv electronic sets Lisokot mostly uses her voice as the only instrument and often works with the Soviet music heritage, deconstructing, reinterpreting and mixing it with her own animalistic stories. Being a notable figure of the Russian underground scene she is also involved in several international collaborations. Over the last two years she has released her debut album ‘Fog’ with the Moscow-based record label Aelita Records and an EP Walzerzyklus together with Uwe Schmidt (Atom™, Señor Coconut) on the Raster record label. She has performed widely in Russia and internationally, including Berghain and Funkhaus in Berlin among other venues.

M.Art is a non-profit, non-governmental cultural organisation that showcases contemporary Russian culture in London, New York and Tel Aviv. M.Art presents a curated programme of events across all sectors, including music, dance, film, and theatre. The project features outstanding artistic acts that are highly acclaimed in Russia but not yet well-known internationally. The project seeks to introduce the diverse and exciting landscape of the current Russian art scene to the international community and Russian-speakers living abroad.
