‘The Multi-Story Orchestra is a musical force to be reckoned with, peopled by young professionals and conducted by Stark with a sort of intense, manically controlled energy.’ Guardian
Running time is approximately one hour.
A concert intertwining spoken word and music about love.
Exploring the relationship between sound and text through both sung poetry and live readings interspersed with improvised music.
With Ravel’s beautiful song settings of the symbolist poet Mallarmé, sung by rising soprano Sarah-Jane Lewis, alongside a new set of love songs written specifically for the event by composer Kate Whitley (‘tremendous… vigorous and visceral music’ The Guardian) and poet Sabrina Mahfouz (‘in quite a different league… She speaks lyrically and powerfully’ The Times).
