Forthcoming shows featuring the same performers:
Thomas Gould | violin |
---|---|
Gwilym Simcock | piano |
Bernhard Schimpelsberger | percussion |
Following on from the success of Thomas Gould and Gwilym Simcock’s sold out gig in last year’s Baroque Unwrapped series at Kings Place, these two creative forces are joined by percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger for their latest collaboration.
Their programme is underlined by a theme of folk music that unites music by Bartók, Monti, Arvo Pärt, John McLaughlin, new compositions by Simcock and Schimpelsberger, and a special focus on the music of Austrian composer Johannes Berauer (an album of whose music the three recorded earlier in 2017).
Violinist Thomas Gould, well-known to Kings Place audiences as a classical soloist and chamber musician, demonstrates his stylistic versatility in a series of concerts showcasing both old and new collaborations with musicians from the classical and jazz worlds. In the intimate environment of Hall Two, expect to hear new takes on familiar pieces, and plenty of spontaneous alchemy between musicians at their improvisatory best.
