Observer restaurant critic and The Kitchen Cabinet presenter Jay Rayner travelled from London to Louisiana and Tokyo and beyond in his search for My Last Supper. In Scoff Pen Vogler, Dinner with Mr Darcy author and editor of Penguin’s Great Food series, charts the fascinating history of food and class in Britain, from 1066 to present day.

Pen Vogler is the author of Dinner with Mr Darcy, Tea with Jane Austen, Dinner with Dickens and Christmas with Dickens. She writes and reviews on food history for the press, edited Penguin’s Great Food series and has recreated recipes from the past for BBC TV. She lives in north London.

Jay Rayner is a journalist, writer, broadcaster, food critic and jazz musician. His documentary, The Truth About Food Prices, was watched by 2.2 million people. He has appeared as a judge on MasterChef and the Great British Waste Menu and has sat on the judging panel of Top Chef Masters in the US. He chairs BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet. Jay’s first album, A Night of Food and Agony, examined the relationship between jazz and two key themes in his life: food and drink. His one man show, My Dining Hell, which documents bad reviews and his worst dining experiences, was performed in London and Edinburgh. Jay is the regular food critic for The Guardian and Observer.

JC Food Editor, Victoria Prever, left a legal career to indulge her love of food and train as a professional chef at Leith’s School of Food and Wine. Since then, she has worked as a food critic for the Ham and High, as a private caterer and taught at cookery schools, including Leith’s and Good Housekeeping. Victoria is also a freelance food writer and food consultant working with various food brands on recipe and website development.
