This 2017 programme from Aurora Orchestra was inspired by the chamber arrangements which Schoenberg and his circle created for Viennese performances. Iain Farrington’s exquisite arrangement of Das Lied von der Erde distils Mahler’s vast symphonic scoring to an intimate sixteen-player orchestration. The result is a transparent jewel, perfectly suited to the unique acoustics of Kings Place’s Hall One, and featuring the incomparable soloists Dame Sarah Connolly and Andrew Staples. Nicholas Collon conducts.
We are determined to come through this time of crisis together and with our creativity intact.
Unlike most charitable arts organisations, we rely almost exclusively on income from ticket sales and conference hire. That income has abruptly ended, impacting our community and our team.
We are a place of belonging, a place where many people connect with their passion. Arts and culture are a fundamental part of thriving society and we need it in the most difficult times. Please donate today, so we can provide a place for inspiration and belonging in the future.
