KPlayer Guide

KPlayer is our new streaming platform. Here, you can buy tickets to watch several of our live shows online, from the comfort of your own home.  There is also an archive of free-to-watch videos.

If you miss a show or want to watch again, some of the shows will remain on KPlayer, as a video on demand, for a time-limited period.

Purchasing online content is the same as booking in-hall events. Here is a short step-by-step guide to get you started:

1) Visit our website and search for a show – there are two main ways to do this:

  • Go to https://www.kingsplace.co.uk/whats-on/ and browse the what’s on listings or use the calendar to find a show you’d like to watch. You can also hover your mouse over the What’s on tab and filter your search by ‘online events’. (Please note that not all of our shows will be live-streamed.)
  • Go directly to https://www.kingsplace.co.uk/kplayer/ and browse the homepage to find a show you’d like to watch. You can also search by category.

2) Create a Kings Place account or log in to your existing Kings Place account

  • When you have selected a show, you will have the option to purchase the content by clicking on ‘click here to book’. You can also click on the big red button further down the page called ‘watch on KPlayer’.
  • You will be taken to a payment page, where you can select your tickets or enter a promo code. Click ‘add to basket’.
  • You will be prompted to log into your Kings Place account.  If you don’t already have an account, click on ‘Register’ and fill in the online form. You will need to create a password and enter details such as your email, name and address.

3) Review your order and purchase

  • When logged into your account, you’ll be taken to your shopping basket page which shows a summary of your order(s). You will be given a 60 minute window of time in which to make your purchase.
  • Under delivery method, select ‘Receive an E-ticket emailed to you’ and then click ‘continue’.
  • If you have a voucher, please enter this into the Voucher ID field before completing your purchase.
  • Please review your order, and when happy with the details, click the ‘pay now’ button to complete your purchase.

4) Watching your video

  • When it’s time to watch the event, please remember to log in to your Kings Place account to watch your purchased show(s) via the KPlayer portal.
  • In KPlayer, you can view all of your purchased shows by clicking on the ‘my list’ tab.  You’ll also receive a reminder email before the event.
  • If the date of the show is in the future, you’ll see a message over the video informing you to come back and watch at the date and time of broadcast.
  • If watching a show which has already started or was broadcast in the past, you’ll be able to play the content immediately. Please note that shows will remain on KPlayer, as a video on demand, for a time-limited period only.
  • Remember to check your internet connection, device settings and web browser settings to ensure that you can seamlessly play live streamed video and audio.

Vimeo Guide
KPlayer uses Vimeo to distribute video. Please ensure your devices meet the compatibility requirements to play video from Vimeo.
Vimeo compatibility guidance can be found here: https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001624108-System-Requirements-for-viewing-browsing-and-apps

Chat functionality
When watching a live event, you may have the opportunity to participate in a live chat, a poll or Q&A session on the event page.

Visit this Vimeo Support page for an outline of what to expect and how to use each of these features as a viewer. Keep in mind there is no guarantee you will always see these features used as they are enabled and controlled on an event-by-event basis.

If you are watching on your mobile, you may need to turn your device landscape to view the chat sidebar (if this is not working on an iPhone, check that the Portrait Orientation lock is off)

Watching on a smart TV
Not all smart TVs are compatible with Vimeo playback but here are some tips on how to access and watch videos from some commonly used smart TVs.

  • Log into your Kings Place account, using a laptop, tablet or smartphone
  • Find the video you want to view and save this to your ‘Watch Later’ library by clicking the clock icon
  • Via your smart TV, access the Vimeo app – you should find your saved video in your ‘watch later’ library.
  • If you do not have the Vimeo app installed, you can download this from within your smart TV device, or by visiting the app store (Apple TV) or Google play store (Android TV).

Other ways to watch on TV
You may be able to cast content from your phone or tablet to a Smart TV, if you own a device such as a Chromecast or Firestick.
You may also be able to connect your laptop to your TV via an HDMI cable. This will require both your laptop and your TV to have HDMI ports. Once your laptop and TV are connected via an HDMI cable, you can use your TV remote control to select your HDMI source.
