As a special 40th-anniversary celebration EPTA UK, European Piano Teachers’ Association, is delighted to present a celebrity masterclass featuring its joint patron Angela Hewitt. Angela is one of the most outstanding recreative artists before the public in the 21st century. Though well known and loved for her extensive and definitive discography, as well as for her prolific activities across the international concert stage, Hewitt has been all too rarely seen as a masterclass tutor in the UK.
It is always especially inspirational and illuminating to observe great performers communicating and sharing their love of their art with younger musicians. Tonight’s special occasion brings one of the greatest of contemporary interpreters to the fore as a mentor and coach to outstanding young pianists of exceptional promise, one of whom includes BBC Young Musician of the Year 2018 winner Lauran Zhang.
EPTA UK was founded in 1978 by Carola Grindea and exists to encourage, support and inspire all pianists and piano teachers. The president of EPTA UK is Piers Lane. The joint vice presidents are Philip Fowke and Dame Fanny Waterman. The joint patrons are Peter Donohoe and Angela Hewitt.
