In the second edition of the hugely popular hour-long series, the Brodsky Quartet perform Schubert’s last three quartets and his quintet, lovingly set up with musical preludes.

With Turina’s ‘bullfighter’s prayer’, we enter a simmering Spanish sound-world, alive with flamenco-like gestures.  This prefaces the musical inferno that is Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’ quartet, an indelible masterpiece written after the composer realised he was dying, and still enthralling musicians and listeners two hundred years on.
