London-based cello octet Cellophony have rapidly established themselves as the UK’s leading cello ensemble, carving a reputation as accomplished exponents of both the standard cello ensemble repertoire and a diverse array of specially commissioned works. With special guest, soprano Kate Royal, they present this programme of exciting classic and contemporary works, including Villa-Lobos’s beguiling Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, James Barralet’s virtuosic and irresistible folk-song arrangements, and Arvo Pärt’s striking dramatic scena L’Abbé Agathon.
