|Bach||Cantata: ‘Himmelskönig, sei willkommen’, BWV 182|
|Easter Oratorio, BWV249|
|London Bach Singers|
Bach again uses his favourite librettist, Picander, for the most brilliantly orchestrated of his Easter masterpieces. Here, unlike the Christmas Oratorio, he assigns specific character roles to each singer almost in the manner of a Passion play. The Feinstein Ensemble once again teams up with the London Bach Singers under the direction of Martin Feinstein. As a fitting prelude to the main work, they will perform the Palm Sunday Cantata, Himmelskönig, sei willkommen, with its famous opening depicting Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
