The Elmore Quartet presents a programme of pieces which have personal meaning, including a staple of the string quartet repertoire.

The Elmore Quartet are an award-winning young quartet based in Manchester and London, formed of members Xander Croft, Miles Ames, Inis Oírr Asano and Felix Hughes; previously winners of the Tunnell Trust Awards, they are Kirckman Concerts Artists for 2023/2024.

The quartet writes: “‘Unfurling’ is a piece we commissioned young composer Leo Geyer to write for us. We have immensely enjoyed exploring it with Leo’s guidance, and we are excited to give its world premiere in the beautiful Kings Place. The Ravel Quartet, being a staple of the string quartet repertoire, is a piece which encompasses everything that we love about string quartet playing; the imagery and colour conveyed in each movement is inspiring, and we love the sound world of Ravel’s music. Our final piece, Britten’s 3rd Quartet, has been with us during many of the key steps of our development. It is an incredibly powerful piece which we have formed a close connection with. We have been fortunate enough to be mentored by the Elias Quartet, students of the Amadeus Quartet for whom the piece was written.”

This is a Kirckman Concerts promotion.

This event will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.
