IGF Young Artist Platform: Alexander Krylov and Shubbe Kabanda
IGF London Guitar Festival 2026
IGF’s Young Artist Platform (YAP) helps young musicians in the critical phase between the final stages of music education and the start of a professional career. The Platform provides much-needed concerts as well as a comprehensive training programme. A unique feature is the chance to work with a composer and premiere a new work commissioned especially by IGF.
This is a shared concert with Irish guitarist Alexander Krylov and Scottish guitarist Shubbe Kabanda.

Kings Place Concessions Tickets
We want to ensure that people who may be struggling financially to purchase a ticket can still enjoy visiting Kings Place. A limited number of tickets are allocated for certain events (if the ticket type does not show in the booking pathway, it means they are not available for this event or have all been sold). £10 ‘Under 30s’ tickets
A limited number of £10 tickets are available for certain shows to attendees aged under 30. To access Under 30s tickets, your account needs to be updated with your Date of Birth. Please visit the account centre to add your Date of Birth and go to ‘Other Preferences’ to opt in to the Under 30s Scheme.
If £10 tickets are available, the ticket discount will apply automatically at checkout. If the discount does not apply, this means all ‘Under 30s’ tickets have sold out for the performance.
Please note that proof of age may be requested at the venue.

Kings Place is situated just a few minutes’ walk from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations, one of the most connected locations in London and now the biggest transport hub in Europe.

The Venue
Our performance spaces are situated on the lower ground floor. Hall One, Hall Two and St Pancras are located in level -2, reached by stairs, escalator and lift from the ground floor entrance level.
Event Times
Door times indicate auditorium entrance times only. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Kings Place seating areas, gallery-level art, canal-side terrace, café, restaurant and bar throughout the day and evening.
- Our events begin promptly at the advertised start time. Typically, there is no support unless otherwise stated.
- We recommend arriving in good time before the performance. The Hall doors will open 30 minutes before the performance to allow time to take your seats, or to choose a space for standing shows.
- Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break in the performance where possible

Rotunda Bar & Restaurant
Rotunda, situated on the ground floor of Kings Place, offers a unique dining and drinking experience alongside Regent’s Canal. The concert bar in the venue foyer will also be open for select events.
Green & Fortune Café
Recently re-furbished and now open with a new look, the Green & Fortune Café is open for selected concerts. Serving hot and cold food and drinks, including sandwiches, salads, soup, stew and a pie of the day, alongside a choice of cakes made by the on-site bakery team. About Alexander Krylov
Alexander Krylov is a guitarist from Dublin, Ireland. He began learning guitar with Andrii Kryzhanivskyi, then studied with Marco Ramelli at TUD Junior Conservatoire, and is now in the final year of his Bachelor of Music Performance degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with tutelage from Allan Neave, Sasha Savaloni and Matthew MacAllister.
Alexander has performed across the UK, with notable recitals being at Kings Place London as part of a guitar quartet with Sean Shibe and other students from the RCS, the Ullapool Guitar Festival in 2025, and the French Institute of Scotland Baroque Festival and Ards International Guitar Festival in 2026. He is also a winner of the Feis Ceoil 2022 Senior Classical Guitar and 2023 Bach Prize competitions, and was a finalist in the 2024 CGR Competition.
In his time away from the classical guitar, Alexander enjoys exploring Brazilian guitar music and playing electric guitar in an R&B band.
His programme includes the second London performance of the new IGF 2025 commission The Millipede Is Walking by Cheryl Frances-Hoad.
About Shubbe Kabanda
Shubbe Kabanda, from Glasgow, is in the final year of her BMus at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Shubbe has been involved in music from an early age, initially as a chorister, which influenced her decision to take up drum kit and guitar, and later receiving cello lessons, which inspired her to pursue a path as a classical musician.
Uncommon for a solo classical instrumentalist, her commitment to performing with a variety of ensembles, including chamber orchestras, opera singers, a flautist and an oboist, illustrates her passion and ambition as an ensemble musician. Her involvement with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s contemporary music festival, PLUG, conveys her interest in championing new music and exploring the contemporary classical scene.
In 2023, Shubbe achieved runner-up in Glasgow’s Scottish Young Musician competition and later that year became a Robertson Trust Scholar. She is a Dewar Arts Award recipient, supporting her purchase of a 2024 Danilo Bazzana guitar.
Shubbe also plays electric guitar for her R&B and neo-soul band Rendezvous, and frequently performs in musical theatre pits, often doubling on various types of guitar.
Her programme includes the second London performance of the new IGF 2025 commission Lullaby by Isabella Gellis.
