La Leona: Women and the Guitar

IGF presents new guitar works and concerts from young women composers and guitarists.

Launched in the summer of 2021, IGF’s La Leona: Women and the Guitar project focuses on commissioning new guitar works from young women composers and holding concerts that exclusively headline women guitarists.

Renata Arlotti’s musical journey started in her hometown Sassari, and soon followed a prestigious international path. Like many great masters before her, Renata’s classical guitar playing was shaped by Italian and British influences whilst studying in Milan, Aosta, Lugano, Siena and London. Renata then embarked on an intense concert activity, with solo and chamber ensemble performances all over the world, most recently in Tehran, Nagoya, Tokyo, London and Grenoble. In 2016, she completed her Master of Arts in Music Performance at the Royal Academy of Music and was selected as an IGF Young Artist Platform performer.
