‘As a Russian pianist I often encounter the clichéd expectation that I will be focusing on the Romantic repertoire whereas it is actually the great Baroque and Classical repertoire which has always held a special place in my musical interests.

Scarlatti and Handel were two of the most amazing keyboard virtuosos of their time and yet they are so very different from each other. Their music still appears incredibly modern to me, thus making a discussion about historical instruments and appropriate sound worlds seem almost irrelevant.

Mozart is my very favourite composer. His Duport Variations and D minor Fantasy are perhaps less well known than the piano sonatas but they are nonetheless really wonderful musical pearls!’
