Cellist and seasoned cross-cultural collaborator Matthew Barley teams up with master tabla player Ustad Sukhwinder Singh, Soumik Datta on sarod and violinist Hugo Ticciati to explore both Western and Indian works through performance and improvisation.
Works by Bach, the Beatles, Tavener and Sultan Khan provide points of departure, as does Raag Bhairavi. O/Modernt Kammerorkester will contribute, and perform newly-devised works as well as Terry Riley’s shamanic frenzy Half-Wolf Dances Mad in Moonlight from his Salome Dances for Peace.
Listen to our podcast featuring conductor / violinist Hugo Ticciati to find out more about O/Modernt’s exciting projects including more details about this concert.
