Award-winning saxophonist and BBC Radio 3 presenter Jess Gillam brings her acclaimed concert experience SHINE to the stage. Drawing on the music and spirit of her newly released album, Shine, the show spans more than 900 years of music, weaving through the vitality of C.P.E. Bach and the tenderness of Barbara Strozzi to the infectious rhythms of Michael Nyman and the intimacy of folk traditions.
Praised for her “breath-taking high-wire virtuosity” (The Arts Desk) and her “unstuffy, inspiring personality” (The Times), Jess creates an atmosphere that is as welcoming as it is exhilarating. Introducing the music from the stage, she shares the stories behind the programme, inviting audiences into an evening of discovery, connection and joy.
Performing with her seven-piece band – think string quartet, jazz trio and saxophone – Jess pairs familiar favourites with exciting new finds. The result is a richly varied programme that reflects her eclectic musical influences and adventurous spirit, moving effortlessly between centuries, genres and moods.
SHINE is a celebration of collaboration, creativity and the power of live music to bring people together. Full of warmth, colour and infectious energy, it is an evening guaranteed to lift the spirits, leaving audiences with a warm and happy glow.
This performance will last approximately 80 minutes, without an interval.
