An evening of heart-stopping lament and high comedy devised by Scotland’s proudest offspring, tenor Nicky Spence, joined by soprano Eleanor Dennis and collaborative pianist Dylan Perez.

Battled, bereaved, a nation rising with klarty weans and a red red rose, Scotland is truly the land of song. From Mendelssohn to Ravel, turning left at Shostakovich and Judith Weir, has ever a poet inspired composers so universally as Robert Burns? With a world premiere from Scottish composer Helen Grime, this special survey takes in the finest settings alongside Britten’s exquisite response to William Soutar in Who are these children? An evening of heart-stopping lament and high comedy devised by Scotland’s proudest offspring, tenor Nicky Spence, joined by soprano Eleanor Dennis and collaborative pianist Dylan Perez.

‘…The stylish Scottish tenor has a substantial instrument with effortlessly ringing top notes and an easily accessed hushed upper register. A master of complex texts, his engaging readings were replete with sly asides and deftly underplayed bon mots.’ Sunday Herald
