Zarah is the Independent MP for Coventry South and before that a Labour MP since 2019.
Zarah became politically active in the student movement and later in the upsurge of Corbynism: serving on the national executive of Young Labour, working as a community organiser for the party and eventually running for parliament.
Zarah had the whip suspended in July 2024, when she became one of seven Labour MPs who voted to scrap the two-child benefit cap. She resigned from the party in July 2025, declaring her intention to co-lead the founding of a new political party with Independent MP Jeremy Corbyn. In her statement she described Westminster as “broken” and said “the two-party system offers nothing but managed decline and broken promises.”

Since then, Bimini has released their debut single ‘God Save This Queen’ and published their first book A Drag Queen’s Guide to Life – an exploratory, political and hilarious memoir that offers advice on transforming your life through lessons from drag. The book was critically acclaimed and shot straight into The Sunday Times Top 10 bestsellers list.
Last month, they starred in Channel 4’s military-style reality series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins which sees 14 celebrities undergo brutal training challenges. They made it to the final five, but missed out on the trophy.
