|Felix Mendelssohn||String Quintet no. 2 in B flat, Op. 87|
Pulitzer prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw reveals all facets of her dynamic musicianship in this collaboration with the young, New York-based Attacca Quartet. Hers is an art which converses with the musical past without fear of fresh experiment. After three of her ingenious and beguiling quartets, she will sing new songs she has composed for herself and the Attacca, returning in the second half as a violist in Mendelssohn’s glorious quintet.
‘exuberant, funky and… exactingly nuanced’ The New York Times
‘Young New Yorkers, the Attacca Quartet have found the ideal vehicle for channelling some of that city’s unbridled energy in a new album’ Musical Toronto
