Sound Unwrapped

We are delighted to welcome back multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound recordist and producer, Cosmo Sheldrake for our new series, Sound Unwrapped.

Please note that Cosmo’s Wake Up Calls 360 sound installation in Hall Two will be running between 2.45pm and 6.45pm. The installation is 30 minutes and will be running on a loop throughout these times. The installation is free to access.

Cosmo released his first single The Moss in 2014, which was followed by the Pelicans We EP in 2015 and his much-loved debut album The Much Much How How and I in April 2018. He later collaborated with Bernie Krause at The Great Animal Orchestra exhibition at Foundation Cartier in Paris and in 2020 he released a series of Wake up Calls, pieces composed entirely from recordings of endangered British birds.

Sheldrake composes music inspired by and often incorporating field recordings and natural soundscapes;  essential listening for anyone interested in hearing truly unique sounds! Audiences can expect to hear new and old material, as well as improvisations using the disappearing soundworlds of endangered British birds and the changing sonic landscapes of coral reef fish.

For Sound Unwrapped, we are excited that Cosmo will be involved in a full evening of events. As well as performing live in Hall One, he will be presenting a spatialised audio installation of Wake Up Calls in Hall Two utilising d&b Soundscape, which Hall One ticket holders can drop into before the show.

The evening finishes with HOWL (ticketed separately) performing a live spatialised set in Hall 2. HOWL are a nine piece vocal collective whose debut EP was produced by Cosmo Sheldrake and released on his record label, Tardigrade Records.
