Scottish cellist Louise McMonagle (Riot Ensemble) presents Scottish composers from Anna Meredith to John Maxwell Geddes, plus works for cello and electronics spatialised in d&b Soundscape.

Acclaimed Scottish cellist Louise McMonagle takes us on a musical journey that starts and ends with the rich landscapes of Scotland.

The first set comprises acoustic solo cello works from her upcoming solo album Ancient Modernity (Delphian Records), a collection crafted over years of collaboration with today’s most dynamic composers. The music draws inspiration from the past, and includes remodelled Gaelic psalms, Arabic oud techniques, and traditional folk melody.

The second set showcases cello and electronics works using the 360 soundscape possibilities of the hall including music by Anna Meredith and a world premiere performance by composer Aaron Holloway Nahum.

This event will last approximately 2 hours, including an interval.
