Lucy Railton & Joseph Houston

Patterns in a Chromatic Field

A rare visit from Berlin-based duo Lucy Railton and Joseph Houston to perform Feldman’s mesmerising long-form work for cello and piano.

One of the first of Morton Feldman’s experiments with long-form composition,  Patterns in a Chromatic Field for cello and piano goes beyond the normal listening experience. Due to the length of the piece the listener’s sense of musical structure breaks down, putting the focus onto the sounds themselves as they arise, unfold, and fade away.

Lucy Railton and Joseph Houston are Berlin-based British musicians focused on contemporary repertoire and experimental music, and have performed together across Europe including recent performances of Catherine Lamb and Morton Feldman.

This event will last 80 minutes, without an interval.
