Summer Sounds: Harrow Community Gospel Choir

Summer Sounds

The choir started in May 2013 and was initially formed to be part of the ‘Now is the Time – Let Freedom Ring’ performance at the Harrow Arts Center in November 2013. This was a special piece composed by Denys Baptist to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Martin Luther King speech. It was performed in conjunction with Tomorrow’s Warriors as part of the London Jazz Festival.

Since then they have performed at community events, anniversaries, choir festivals, and weddings. They have also presented an annual concert to a sell-out audiences since 2014, and were the featured choir on the single Crazy by K Sohl, a rising singer/songwriter from Harrow.

In 2019 they performed their first European concert in Holland, and in 2022 they were the featured community choir at Kings Place performing in the foyer before the main event.

HCGC is led by CeCelia Wickham Anderson, a former member of The London Adventist Chorale and current member of the internationally acclaimed all female a Capella quintet, Black Voices.

Please note, this event is programmed and presented by Kings Place as part of King’s Cross Summer Sounds, a free festival taking place at Coal Drops Yard. See full festival information here.

This event will last approximately 45 minutes, with no interval.
