Join a duck and a mouse on an adventure inside a wolf, as Aurora and Scottish composer Martin Suckling bring Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen’s much-loved children’s story to musical life.

“Early one morning a mouse met a wolf and was quickly gobbled up…”

Published in 2018, ‘The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse’ became an instant classic of children’s literature. Author Mac Barnett’s collaboration with illustrator Jon Klassen tells the story of a mouse who is swallowed by a wolf, only to discover that he’s not alone: a duck is already installed in the belly of the beast, and it turns out life inside a wolf is pretty good! There’s lots of delicious food, dancing, and of course no more fear of being gobbled up. All is well, until a hunter arrives…

Martin Suckling’s new piece for children reimagines the story as a musical adventure that introduces young children to orchestral music and instruments in a playful and engaging way. Part of Kings Place’s year long Scotland Unwrapped series, join us for lots of fun audience participation, beautiful set design, sublime music-making from the players of Aurora Orchestra, a guest narrator, and Jon Klassen’s instantly recognisable illustrations.

Recommended for ages 4–8.

This event will last approximately 50 minutes, without an interval.
