How To Be Awesome: Lessons From Great Jewish Girls

Jewish Book Week Family Day

From Queen Ester to Ruth Bader Ginsburg via Anne Frank, DKNY designer Donna Karan and many more, Batya Bricker joins us to show girls, boys and their grown-ups how these heroines changed their world and ours!

Are you fearless? Fearlessness can be many things: speaking up against wrong, rescuing lives or inspiring a new way of thinking. In Goodnight Golda: a handbook for brave Jewish girls and her mighty friends, author Batya Bricker takes us around the world – including Ethiopia, Israel, Poland, Portugal, the US and right here in the UK – with inspiring stories and cool illustrations of 32 Jewish women who rock!

For children aged 10+ and their grown ups.

Word-lover, avid reader, spiritual-seeker, Torah teacher, publisher and now author – Batya Bricker also happens to be GM Books and Brand for Exclusive Books, the largest book chain in South Africa. Her portfolio covers marketing, procurement, online and retail design – a mouthful in regular times, a mountain in the time of Covid.

She spent 13 years at Exclusive Books, went on to become the Marketing Director of the chain, then some 50 stores around South Africa, as well as Van Schaik academic bookstores.  Under her leadership, Exclusive Books won a myriad of design awards, introduced industry changing campaigns such as Homebru, the celebration of South African writers and their writing, and award-winning events, such as the creation of the Harry Potter experience at Montecasino.

Taking a sabbatical from corporate, she ran her own little publishing house for 7 years, publishing over 15 books, managing 4 national bookfairs and festivals, adding a touch of magic to PJ Library South Africa and reading a gazillion bedtime stories to three boys and two dogs.
