A powerful and poetic piece by internationally renowned Orcadian poet George Mackay Brown, this film presents the lives, anxieties, regrets, fears and memories of women as they confront the anxiety of waiting with all their men out at sea and then the terrible aftermath of the storm they have watched. Filmed in 2021 during lockdown in Orkney, this project involved technology, remote rehearsal, mobile phone cameras and more as actors from the Orkney community brought this work to life performing in isolation. Originally written in the 1960s, the power of the imagery and narrative reflected a moment in time which had much contemporary resonance as many were lost.
