‘a wayward soundscape, whose eldritch tonalities, eerie harmonies and restive rhythmic layers skilfully skirted the familiar and orthodox’ Sue Wilson – The Scotsman
‘stunning voice, completely charmed the audience at Stage 2. Marigold Grove floated and weaved […] Kate’s voice is like a choir of voices’ Gareth Allen – Sonic Band Wagon
Kate Young’s compositions are a thing to behold – rhythmically entrancing folk originals which explore the depths of nature’s potential for healing. Drawing upon the dying tradition of the medicinal uses of plants in Scotland, folklore and their stories, her voice soars through intricately woven compositions – here played by a string trio with Scottish Chamber Orchestra cellist Su-a Lee and Patsy Reid on viola.
