Three musicians in their natural environment.
The music of folk supergroup LAU has always been directly influenced by the environment. Hailing respectively from the far West of Scotland, The North Isles and East Anglia, Aidan O’Rourke, Kris Drever and Martin Green have always drawn on their immediate surroundings for inspiration. The results can be heard in many of their tracks; Hinba, Notland Castle, Horizontigo and many others carry in them some soundscape of these beautiful and often barely inhabited places.
More recently they have spent time writing in the Shetland Islands, and that wind-blown, often isolated landscape is evident in 2019’s Midnight and Closedown.
In this special event for Nature Unwrapped, LAU present their celebrated songs in a naked form, in what they consider to be the band’s natural environment: entirely acoustic. Back to nature.
