Peggy Seeger & Calum MacColl + Green Ribbons

The First Farewell Tour

Voices Unwrapped / Folk Weekend: Unity in Song

Queen of folk, Peggy Seeger teams up with son Calum MacColl for special first farewell concert at Kings Place, part of their Voices Unwrapped Folk Weekend.

The charismatic Peggy Seeger – singer, songwriter, feminist, icon, Ewan MacColl’s partner and muse – is the undisputed queen of folk and political song. Join Peggy and her son Calum MacColl, an exceptional musician in his own right, for a glorious evening of up-close performance.  Expect to hear some of Peggy and Ewan MacColl’s most loved songs, readings from Peggy’s award-winning memoir The First Time Ever, plenty of audience participation and lots of relaxed family banter.

‘Peggy may be folk royalty, but there’s nothing either reverent or nostalgic about this joyous and intimate performance’ The Guardian

‘Glorious – Peggy is a commanding presence’ The Times

‘An effortlessly intimate affair’ The Scotsman

‘A memorable warm and charming evening of great music, family humour and grace.’ Irish World

Green Ribbons is a project dedicated to the celebration of unaccompanied song.

For this event original line-up member and iconic singer Frankie Armstrong joins the core collective of Debbie Armour (Burd Ellen), Alasdair Roberts and Benjamin ‘Jinnwoo’ Webb (Jinnwoo, Bird in the Belly) alongside new members Fran Foote (Stick In The Wheel) and Jack Sharp (Wolf People) in a talented shifting collective of singers.

Green Ribbons are running a singing workshop earlier in the day at 2.30pm. You can purchase tickets here.
