Raga Fusion Workshop with Sheema Mukherjee

An overview of Indian classical music and Raga, including aspects of development eg.Alap and Jor, gat & tala, as well as indian musical ornament in fusion.

Sheema Mukherjee, composer and sitar player, is known for her solo work and collaborations. She is a member of Transglobal Underground and the niece of legendary sitarist Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. She has co-composed and performed for the RSC and “Bending the Dark” with the Imagined Village was featured during the 2012 Olympics. Other works include collaborations with Martin & Eliza Carthy, Paul Weller, Courtney Pine and Natacha Atlas.

This workshop will last approximately 1hr without an interval.


All-female Morris Dancing group Boss Morris will bring their unique take on the traditional English folk dance to the public spaces of Kings Place as part of this year’s Folk Weekend. At 3.05pm and 6.50pm, witness this eclectic group of professional performers take inspiration from many types of traditional dances and ancient customs, but give them a modern twist with their interpretations and striking attire. Prepared to be dazzled!
