Tamsin Elliott Trio

Folk Weekend 2023

Tamsin Elliott is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and film-maker based in Bristol, UK. With roots in the folk music of the British Isles, her interests and playing styles extend to European and Middle Eastern music as well as experimental and ambient sounds.

In her critically acclaimed debut solo album FREY, which comprises compositions for accordion, harp, whistle and voice, Tamsin explores themes of limbo, pain, healing and acceptance, reflecting on the microcosm of her personal experience of chronic illness alongside wider themes of societal disconnection and environmental grief.

The performance will last approximately 1 hour without an interval.

‘Tamsin Elliott’s FREY rubber-stamps the arrival of a new British talent, full of beautiful, filmic compositions for accordion, harp, whistle and voice’  The Guardian

‘Tamsin Elliott’s debut album, FREY, is, in a word, sublime. Few albums this year have taken us on such a magical journey’  Tradfolk

All-female Morris Dancing group Boss Morris will bring their unique take on the traditional English folk dance to the public spaces of Kings Place as part of this year’s Folk Weekend. At 3.05pm and 6.50pm, witness this eclectic group of professional performers take inspiration from many types of traditional dances and ancient customs, but give them a modern twist with their interpretations and striking attire. Prepared to be dazzled!
