FolkEast in the City brings a taste of the UK’s most easterly folk festival to London for an evening of music, storytelling, and community. Renowned for blending tradition with innovation, FolkEast has become a cornerstone of the folk calendar, and this event captures its spirit in miniature—warm, welcoming, and with a sprinkling of the unexpected.
Headlining are festival patrons The Young ’Uns, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners celebrated for their masterful harmonies, humour, and heartfelt storytelling. Their performances weave laughter and poignancy, exploring both contemporary tales and timeless themes with warmth and charisma.
Supporting acts include Hedera, a Bristol-based project whose immersive soundscapes and poetic lyrics push the boundaries of contemporary folk, and Suffolk favourites Honey and the Bear, with their songs inspired by the people and landscapes of Suffolk. The event will also feature live music and step dancing in the Music Foyer throughout the day.
FolkEast in the City is a one-night celebration of folk, an evening that is as much about connection and curiosity as it is about music—capturing the festival’s unique spirit wherever it goes.
